Nusa Lembongan and neighbouring island Ceningan have beautiful beaches, making it an island paradise for holiday makers. There are beaches suitable for: families with young children, snorkelling, surfing, catching some sun-rays, beachcombing & beachside bintangs!
The waters surrounding Lembongan can experience large tidal changes and currents can be strong especially on a turning tide. It is essential to always take care, have respect for the ocean, be aware of the conditions and how quickly they can change.
This is the main bay in Nusa Lembongan, where the majority of boats from Bali arrive. It is home to Lembongan’s 3 surf breaks (Playgrounds, Lacerations & Shipwrecks) and is also great for SUP boarding. The northern stretch is ideal for “beach-time” with its white sand and turquoise waters, the inner lagoon is generally calm & protected by the outer reef. There are plenty of beachfront restaurants where you can dine with your feet in the sand and enjoy a Bintang or cocktail or two! The perfect place to also watch Lembongan’s beautiful sunsets. Jungut Batu has the largest range of accommodation in regards to budget and style options including private villas, some of Lembongan’s most popular resorts & great value beachfront bungalows.
Coconut Beach is nestled between Jungut Batu and Tamraind Bay. It is a favourite with everyone, ideal for families with kids who want to swim and play on the beach ( there is also shade under the trees), perfect for snorkelling when the tides & currents are right, and the place for surfers to paddle out to Playgrounds or onto Lacerations surf breaks. We have a range of villas, resorts & bungalows all in close walking distance or it can be accessed from Tamarind Bay via a track around the headland.
Located between Coconut Beach and Mushroom Bay, the beach is best swimming and snorkelling on mid to high tide. The far northern end has a beautiful mini lagoon which is accessible on all tides, making it a stunning spot for beach lovers staying in Tamarind Bay. It is a great bay for SUPing, and on a larger swell a fun left hand wave can form across the middle of the bay. We have a range of Villas & Bungalow style accommodation in Tamarind Bay which are all in walking distance to the beach.
Renowned by many as the most protected beach and most suitable for great children, great for swimming , SUP boarding & snorkelling. The northern end has an all-day dedicated swimming area as there are commercial boats bringing visitors from 11am – 3pm, making it best early in the morning and from mid afternoon at the main beach area. There are some great beach front restaurants to enjoy, offering bean bags and relaxed feet in the sand style hospitality. Mushroom Bay also has a great range of accommodation including, private Villas, Resorts and Bungalows.
Sandy Bay is home to Sandy Bay Beach Club and a number of private villas. The water is not safe for swimming, with large swells and strong currents. However, on mid-low tide it is the perfect for kids playing in the sand and rock pools. Sandy Bay Beach Club also offer beachside bean bags and is renowned for its spectacular sunsets.
Dream Beach is a stunning beach for sun bathing and swimming for experienced swimmers as you must be mindful of rips, large swell and tides. It is a favourite stop off point for day trip visitors, so if you are looking for some solitude it is best to visit early mornings and late afternoons. If you are looking for accommodation here, check out Dream Beach Huts.
Located at the southern end of Nusa Ceningan. Secret Beach is a stunning cove of sandy white beach, crystal clear waters that fill the rock pools and lagoons. If you have a scooter, this should be on your list, especially if you have a partner who is an experienced surfer as it overlooks Mahana Point surf break. We also list a range of Bungalow style accommodation very close by.
Please take care at all times as the waters surrounding Nusa Lembongan are renowned for extreme tidal movements and strong currents.
Nyepi Day, falls on 7th March this year, a day of silence, celebrating the start of the Hindu new year, for the Balinese this is a time to reflect on the year past and plan for the year ahead.
The Melasti Ceremony is a purification ritual usually held a few days before Nyepi Day. This takes place on the beach, is a colourful spectacle where people bring offerings and pray to cleanse their bodies and earth of bad spirits.
On the eve of Nyepi, villages and communities gather with their Ogoh Ogoh ( large paper mache sculptures) and parade through the streets which end with them ceremoniously being burnt, symbolizing purification.
Nyepi Day itself is a spiritual day reserved for self reflection, observed from 6 a.m on 7th March until 6 a.m. on 8th March, with anything that may interfere with that purpose being restricted. The main restrictions are no power, no working, no entertainment, no travelling (people stay at home) and, for some, no eating.
Although Nyepi is primarily a Hindu holiday, non-Hindu residents and tourists are not exempt from the restrictions. We ask all visitors to Lembongan during Nyepi Day to respect these traditions and to remain within their accommodation confines. Whilst some hotels on Bali receive special permission to use limited power, it is far stricter on Nusa Lembongan with many places closing or operating without power and minimum or no staff for the day. It is advised you check with your accommodation to find out their policies surrounding this special day.
We trust all visitors will be mindful and respectful of Nyepi Day and the importance it plays in the Hindu culture.

You will have no last day Bali “blues” when you book the Day Use Package at the Sheraton Kuta. We all know that feeling when you have to check out of your accommodation on Nusa Lembongan and then have evening flights home. “What to do, where to go?” are usually the standard questions. The Lembongan Traveller has partnered with Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort to make sure this problem is solved and your last day in Bali can be relaxing and enjoyed in style.
We have two packages on offer, the standard and a premium package which has some significant upgrades and extra benefits. Both ensure once you leave Lembongan & land in Sanur, Rocky Fast Cruises will transfer for you to the Sheraton where your final day in paradise begins.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by traditional Balinese dancers and met by the lovely concierge staff who will handle your luggage (always accessible if you need to grab something during the day) before escorting you to the lobby to check in for your Day Use Package.
We chose the Premium Package, as a massage is a must on your last day in Bali, plus it also provides two meals and an added beverage allowance … why not, its your last day before reality hits hard!!!!
First step was to choose our fragrance, Rose was my choice, the beautiful fragrance lasted well after the massage, constantly reminding of how important it is to stop and take time out.
Our massage, in the stunning Shine Spa was nothing less than AMAZING. The pre massage foot wash, set the tone as we were then pampered, pressure spots released, soothed and physically nurtured which in turn let the mind ease.
We floated out of massage to the resort’s sunset spot, Bene Rooftop, to enjoy cocktails as mother-nature turned on sunset to remember as we watched locals and holiday makers stroll the beach, catch a wave and savour the golden glow.
Next stop was Feast Restaurant where we indulged beyond believe on one of the BEST buffets ever, with cuisine from around the world and a dedicated team of staff on the floor ensuring we tasted way more than we should have!! The buffet is extensive, and definitely deserves a good initial scoping and then multiple subsequent visits! We LOVED how they also catered for the little ones with a very cute mini buffet for the kids with fun, creative & healthy inspired options.
The neighbouring Beachwalk shopping Mall was the perfect way to walk off some of dinner, its got retail options for everyone including: Zara, Victoria’s Secret, Nautica, Pull & Bear, Timberland, Mango, H&M plus everything in between. BUT if you are looking for some cheaper delights, PoppiesLane boarders the other two sides of the Sheraton where you will can bargain, buy and bring home all your favourite Bali bits.
After the shopping we re-shuffled our bags to make room for our last minute purchase, before the Sheraton transferred us to the Airport.
Thanks to the Sheraton our last day in Bali was beautiful, stress free and left us ready to return ASAP! But first back to Australia for a little reality check.

Review by Gypsy Lovin’ Light
I’ve finally found my favourite part of Bali…a short boat ride from Sanur, Nusa Lembongan is for the gypset at heart, looking for that tranquil, relaxed island vibe with all the luxuries one could wish for.
We stayed in the beautiful Tamarind bay at the amazing beachfront Villa Sayang. The Lembongan Traveller, who are Lembongan experts, sorted out all our travel details for the most enjoyable, relaxing and seamless holiday. Everything went beautifully and we were able to experience and see so much during our time, whilst still moving at that lovely slow island pace we love so much.
We were blessed with some absolutely stunning sunset views, pristine surf, supping and snorkelling at our doorstep, and the best food and staff one could hope for. Villa Sayang is the perfect villa for families, groups and couples, as you can book either the entire residence or just a couple of rooms of this multi-leveled villa estate. With picturesque infinity pools overlooking the ocean, a villa boat, snorkelling, surfboards and sups at your beck and call, and happy, smiling faces always ready to assist you with anything, it’s hard to leave this place.
During our island stay we were lucky enough to experience some very cool boat trips. The highlight was taking a catamaran to Crystal Bay, Nusa Penida and snorkeling with some seriously giant, vibrant fish in the most unbelievably clear turquoise waters. We sat on the beach, sipping coconuts, feeling a million miles away from everything, not a worry in the world. As a bit of a foodie and always on the health conscious pulse I was so happy with my options here. We particularly loved Hai bar and grill, situated right on the beach and perfect for sunset views with some really good cocktails. For some fresh, local balinese style food check out Nyoman’s warung, and if you’re chasing unicorn pastel sunset skies like us then definitely head to Sandy bay beach club.
So if you’re looking for the kind of holiday where there are no cars, no crowds, and you can completely unwind, spend your days on the water, and enjoy delicious food with beautiful energy around you, head to Nusa Lembongan and make sure you organise your trip through The Lembongan traveller as they really know their stuff.
Enjoy your travels and let me know where your next adventure is!
Love and gratitude,
