Travel Insurance 101

How Travel Insurance Works for Your Bali or Lembongan Trip

Travel insurance isn’t just a box to tick—it’s a clear process that protects you before and during your trip. Here’s how it really works, with examples from Bali and Nusa Lembongan.

Travel Insurance Nusa Lembongan

Choosing Your Policy

Start by deciding what kind of cover you need. Are you only looking for basic medical coverage, or do you want cancellation, luggage, and activity protection? For Australian travellers heading to Bali, Cover-More offers Basic, Comprehensive, or Comprehensive+ plans that include medical emergencies, evacuation, trip cancellations, theft, and adventure sports like snorkelling or diving in Nusa Lembongan.

If you’re a frequent traveller, Cover-More also offers an Annual Multi-Trip policy, which covers an unlimited number of trips within a 12-month period, up to the maximum trip duration you choose.

Buying Your Policy

Purchase insurance as soon as you book flights or accommodation. This ensures you’re covered if you need to cancel due to unexpected illness or accidents before departure. Policies can be purchased online through Cover-More, where you’ll get an instant confirmation and policy number.

What’s Covered (and What’s Not)

Typical claims include medical treatment (e.g., a scooter accident in Lembongan), stolen items, or trip delays (like ferry cancellations between Sanur and Jungutbatu). However, you won’t be covered if you ride a motorbike without a valid licence or ignore local safety rules. Pre-existing conditions might also require additional cover.

How to Claim

If something happens, notify Cover-More as soon as possible. Keep receipts, medical reports, or police statements for proof. Claims can be submitted online, and many are processed within 5–10 working days. Urgent medical claims are prioritised and often settled faster.

Why It Matters

Medical evacuation from Bali to Australia can cost over $50,000. Travel insurance is a small price for peace of mind, letting you enjoy paradise without worry.

Before you finalise your holiday plans, make sure you have reliable travel insurance like Cover-More to protect your trip, health, and belongings—so you can fully enjoy Nusa Lembongan activities and adventures without worry.

Explore Sandy Bay: A Perfect Slow Day on Nusa Lembongan

Tucked into the southwest corner of Nusa Lembongan, Sandy Bay is the kind of place that invites you to slow down. Think barefoot afternoons, salty breezes, and golden-hour views. If you’re craving a laid-back day filled with gentle adventure and a touch of indulgence, this one’s for you.

Ease in with Dream Beach & Devil’s Tears

Start your day with a little adventure. Dream Beach is just a short scooter ride away – a postcard-perfect beach with soft white sand and turquoise waves. While it’s not ideal for swimming due to strong currents, it’s a stunning spot to relax, dip your toes, and soak up the view. After a slow wander along the shore, follow the coastal path to Devil’s Tears, where crashing waves and dramatic spray put on a show – nature’s version of a wake-up call.

Island-inspired shopping

After exploring, head inland and drop by Nalu Home Decor. This coastal boutique is filled with treasures – from home décor, rings and bracelets, and flowy dresses to artisanal tropical accessories like woven hats and beach bags. It’s a lovely place to find a little piece of the island to take home.

Time to Unwind

Afternoons are made for pampering. Choose from two of Sandy Bay’s top spas: Glo Day Spa, offering modern treatments and air-conditioned bliss, or Jamu Day Spa, with its all-natural, earthy charm. Whether you go for a classic massage or a full-body ritual, you’ll leave feeling completely renewed.

Dinner & Cocktails at Sandy Bay Beach Club

As golden hour rolls in, make your way to Sandy Bay Beach Club. This iconic oceanfront spot is the place to be for sunset drinks – with a cocktail in hand, toes in the sand, and the kids happily entertained at the Kids Club. Once the sun sets, stay for dinner. The menu is full of fresh seafood, woodfired pizzas, and hearty island favourites. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a slow, sun-kissed day.

There’s something exciting about discovering somewhere new to stay — a different view, a new neighbourhood to explore, or just a fresh place to call home for a little while. This year, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan welcome a handful of stunning new stays, each offering their own take on island living. With a lush garden, 24-hour reception, and beachfront vibes, Arna is perfect for couples and solo travellers looking for something refreshingly different.

Why we love it: Elegant tented suites, oceanfront infinity pool and lounge, and a laidback setting just across the Yellow Bridge.

Located just steps from the shoreline in Jungutbatu, Villa Nomadas is where architectural elegance meets the spirit of island life. The property includes a 3-bedroom villa and a 4-bedroom villa, each with its own private pool and open-plan living. You can book them individually or combine them into one spacious compound — perfect for extended families or groups of friends.

Villa Nomadas is more than just a stay; it’s a gentle tribute to Balinese culture and community. Inspired by the tradition of gotong royong, the property weaves together local craftsmanship, timber finishes, and warm, meaningful hospitality. Expect breezy bedrooms, garden-fringed pools, and a peaceful rhythm that invites you to fully unwind.

Why we love it: steps from beach and bites, and a perfect setting for families or group of friends.

Villa Ocean Blue

Brand new and perched on a cliff in peaceful Sandy Bay, Villa Ocean Blue is a four-bedroom masterpiece designed for families and groups. The open-plan layout flows seamlessly from indoors to out, connecting the large garden, ocean-facing pool, and breezy entertaining spaces.

The villa sleeps up to 8 guests and features a massive 98” Smart TV, ideal for movie nights after long beach days. Whether you’re lounging poolside or dining under the stars, everything here is built to bring people together in comfort and style.

Why we love it: Panoramic views and expansive open-plan living.

Seaview Private Villas

Set across multiple levels and overlooking both the ocean and Mount Agung, Seaview Private Villas offers flexibility and charm in equal measure. Choose from 1-, 2-, or 3-bedroom options — or book the whole complex as a 6-bedroom retreat for the ultimate group getaway.

Each villa is thoughtfully designed with comfortable living areas, full kitchens, and access to shared facilities like the pool and on-site restaurant. But the showstopper? A private beach cave only accessible via the villa’s lift — exclusive, secluded, and perfect for a quiet dip in the sea.

Why we love it: Private beach cave, family-friendly layouts, and a front-row seat to Mt. Agung and ocean view.

Morin’s Story of Conservation, Morin Resort Nusa Lembongan

Built Mindfully: Morin’s Story of Conservation

Built Mindfully: Morin’s Story of Conservation

At Morin Resort, we believe that a business can, and should, be a force for good. From the materials we build with, to the energy we use, to the way we treat people and the ocean, we are doing our best to operate in a way that protects, uplifts, and regenerates. We don’t claim to have it all figured out, but we are committed to learning, improving and treading as lightly as we can.

Business as a Force for Conservation

Our barefoot-luxury resort is more than just a place to stay, it’s a small platform we hope can help raise awareness and inspire thoughtful action. We see ourselves as students and stewards of the natural world that surrounds us, especially the vibrant marine life that makes Nusa Lembongan island so unique.

As part of our ongoing commitment to conservation, we are proud to support Marine Megafauna Foundation (MMF), whose work focuses on the research and conservation of manta rays, sea turtles and whale sharks. One way we support their efforts is through guided manta ray trips with our private boat, Pari Manta, which aim to be more than a snorkeling experience. These outings are co-hosted by two MMF biologists: one shares knowledge with guests about local marine life and conservation efforts, while the other collects data that directly contributes to ongoing research and the preservation of these species and their habitats. For our guests, it’s a chance to witness ocean conservation in action, and for us, it’s a way to connect tourism with tangible, science-based conservation.

Mindful Materials & Timeless Design

Our commitment to sustainability began with the building of Morin itself. No trees were cut down to make space for the resort. Instead, we chose to build with mostly antique teak, giving a second life to materials that already carried history. Much of the wood you’ll see has been upcycled with care, reflecting a simple belief: we can often work with what’s already here.

To us, sustainability means looking beyond short-term convenience and considering long-term impact. We’re still learning every day, but we try to ask not just ‘what does this cost today?’ but ‘what will this mean tomorrow?’

A Work in Progress: Responsible Operations

Beyond design, we take responsibility for how we operate. Our wastewater is treated before being released, something that should be standard practice, yet still worth mentioning in today’s world. It’s a simple act of respect for the reef and sea around us.

Some everyday examples: we use solar panels to reduce our energy footprint and make small, practical choices that reflect our values, like edible rice straws instead of plastic, refillable glass water bottles, and fans in rooms to reduce reliance on air conditioning. These details may go unnoticed, but they help protect the environment we depend on.

At our restaurant, The Playful Table, we extend this philosophy to the plate. Our menu leans proudly plant-based, celebrating local roots—literally—with ingredients like cassava, the island’s staple crop. We believe travel should remain a journey of discovery, not a repetition of the familiar. After all, what’s the point of going halfway around the world if you’re served the same continental breakfast you could find anywhere?

Around the property, we also share information with guests about local species, like geckos and frogs, to help everyone better understand and peacefully coexist with the wildlife that lives here.

We know we still have more to learn and more to do, and we’re always looking for thoughtful ways to do better, one small step at a time.

Conscious Business Means Conscious People

Sustainability at Morin isn’t just about the environment, it’s also about how we treat each other. We’re gently challenging some of the outdated norms in hospitality, where the guest is seen as king at the expense of the team’s well-being. We don’t believe respect should be a one-way street.

At Morin, our team is the heart of everything. We’re cultivating a safe, supportive space where each individual can grow, personally and professionally. Our workplace isn’t just a resort; it’s a playground for growth, a place where people are encouraged to be themselves and thrive.

And when we welcome you to Morin, we hope it’s not just about service, but about connection. To each other. To nature. And to yourself.

A New Kind of Luxury

We are still learning. Still growing. But we believe in a kind of luxury that gives back, one that is rooted in respect, care and purpose.

If you choose to stay with us, we hope you leave lighter, inspired and perhaps even a little more connected to this beautiful planet we all share.

Come experience a new kind of luxury, one that gives back, grows together and leaves the world better than we found it.

Our team is always here to help you have the perfect Lembongan stay and arrange the boat transfers for your next island getaway.

Designed for those who appreciate both comfort and style, this clifftop retreat invites you to wake up to the sound of waves, spot dolphins and turtles from the infinity pool, and unwind as the sky transforms into a canvas of sunset hues.

With an ocean-facing master suite, three additional bedrooms, a spacious living area, and an inviting sun lounge, the villa is perfect for those looking to soak up the island’s beauty in ultimate comfort. Floor-to-ceiling glass in the master bedroom means you don’t even have to leave your bed to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view, and the outdoor bathtub offers a sanctuary after a day of adventure.

Prefer a cosy night in? The 98-inch Smart TV in the living room is perfect for a family movie night or an epic Netflix binge.

A Family Favourite

With space to sleep up to eight guests, Villa Ocean Blue is an excellent choice for families seeking a stylish island escape. The three additional bedrooms can be set up as king or twin, offering flexibility for different group dynamics. The villa’s outdoor areas are made for connection, whether it’s sunbathing by the infinity pool or enjoying breakfast with an ocean breeze.

Unlike many family-friendly villas that prioritise practicality over aesthetics, Villa Ocean Blue blends thoughtful design with Pinterest-worthy interiors. One of the bedrooms even features an indoor bathroom, perfect for families with little ones, while the other three boast semi-outdoor bathrooms, allowing you to shower under the sky.

However, due to the clifftop location and infinity pool design, this villa is not recommended for families with young children. A pool fence can be arranged at an additional cost, and our team will happily assist with giving you contact for this.

FAMILY FUN ON NUSA LEMBONGAN

Having a family fun on Nusa Lembongan is nothing short of a great idea. When it comes to filling your days with loads of family fun under the Indonesian sun; look no further, we’ve got you covered.

Grab your hat, sunnies, and sunscreen. Let’s go.

MINI GOLF

Located across from the beach lies an island-style mini golf course that will bring hours of entertainment to the whole family. If you fancy an excellent feed followed by a game of 18 holes, head down to The Coconut Hut for the afternoon. Good vibes, good fun, and of course, some good old-fashioned family rivalry is what holidays are all about.

SNORKELLING

Who doesn’t love cruising the coastline on a boat with the family? Nusa Lembongan is not only famous for its world-class diving but also for its abundant, beautiful snorkelling sites. We will help you organize a private boat where you will visit a few different spots, including Manta Point. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, turtles, loads of colourful reef fish and Nemo too.

DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

No PADI, no problem. Seeing as you’ve travelled all this way, it would be rude not to visit the resident Manta Rays. Bring the family on an underwater adventure of a lifetime by joining in on Discover Scuba Dive. Offered by many dive shops on the island, anyone is welcome, aged 10 and up. A short pool session to learn the basics followed by two ocean dives will have you back in time for an afternoon nap on the beach.

Checking in to Villa Utopia: A Stay to Remember

CHECKING IN TO VILLA UTOPIA: A STAY TO REMEMBER

From the moment we arrived at Villa Utopia, it felt like we had stepped into another world. The views of Mount Agung, the ocean, and the surrounding greenery were breathtaking, and the gentle sounds of birds set the perfect tone for a relaxing getaway. Nestled on the eastern side of Jungutbatu Hill, its location strikes the perfect balance—away from the busy streets of Jungutbatu but still close to the area’s popular restaurants with only 10 minutes scooter ride.

Exploring the Villas

As we walked through the entrance, the property unfolded with two inviting doors, each leading to its own villa. The 1-bedroom villa felt like a private haven—perfect for a couple or solo traveler. Everything about it was designed for relaxation, from the intimate living space to the cozy bedroom that overlooked a serene pool. With a fully equipped kitchen, it was easy to feel at home.

The 2-bedroom villa, however, stole the show for families. The master bedroom was a dream, offering the best view in the house. Waking up to a panorama of the garden, the pool, and the majestic Mount Agung was unforgettable. The second bedroom was a perfect retreat for the kids, and the spacious shared living area became the heart of our stay—a place to gather, laugh, and make memories. If you’re traveling with young children, we do recommend renting a pool fence due to the infinity pool design.

For larger groups, we loved the option of connecting the two villas to create a 3-bedroom space with two private pools. The connecting door by the poolside is a convenient feature, allowing privacy and comfort for both parties.

Living with Nature

The villa features a semi-open concept with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that bring in abundant natural light and offer uninterrupted views of the surroundings. This design lets the breeze flow through, making us feel completely connected to the beautiful nature of Nusa Lembongan.

A Sustainable Stay

We also appreciated the sustainable approach of Villa Utopia, from its chlorine-free pools and use of solar panels to sourcing materials locally whenever possible. Knowing these initiatives were in place made us feel good about our choice, and it’s clear they care about preserving this stunning island for future visitors.

Why You Should Book

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or a group retreat, Villa Utopia has you covered. With opening prices starting at AUD $275 per night for the 1-bedroom villa, Villa Utopia offers great value. Plus, with Starlink as the internet provider, staying connected was effortless—a bonus for those who need to mix work with leisure.
